In making a film, I have learnt that there are many safety risks. One safety risk is simply tripping over. In order to prevent this from happening, I suggest people to look where they are going. Dropping the camera is another hazard included in the risk assessment. A door could hit a person holding a camera. Therefore someone should hold the door open for people struggling to get through. Another risk is taking a high angle or birds eye view. This is dangerous as you cannot stand on tables, chairs, walls or trees. This is because it is easy for someone to slip or fall. This could cause harm to the individual, people around them and the equipment. To prevent this, you should not attempt to climb any sort of object. Finally, do not walk backwards whilst holding the camera. This is because you could knock something over, hurt yourself or damage the camera by knocking or dropping it. To prevent this from happening, always walk forward and look where you are going.
I was in a group of 5. We came up with the idea as using Cinderella as our story line. This was because everyone knew the story line and everyone was familiar with it. We chose one group member, Amy, to be the prince. This was because she was tall enough and was confident enough to act. We chose Georgia to be the step mum. This is because she is confident at projecting her voice. Choosing the characters were really easy, everyone was happy being the character they got given and everyone worked well as a group.
We had a variety of settings to film around the school. We chose to stay in only a couple of areas. This was because we were happy with the places we found. We chose to film a section in the toilets. This was to show Cinderella washing and cleaning. This is a stereotypical place for cleaning to happen in the school. We also filmed a section down the corridor. This gave Cinderella space to run when she looses her shoe. This also gave the camera a chance to pan the movement.
At first we were doing really well filming and getting through the scenes. We changed tripods because the first tripod did not allow us to move the camera. We finally got the camera set up on the second tripod. We adjusted it correctly to the height we wanted. Unfortunately what we didn't realise, on the camera there were two different buttons but looked similar. One button was a picture button and the second was the recording film button. We found out, through out our whole filming we were just taking pictures. We realised this at our last scene we were filming. This led us to panic as we worked hard and only had a couple of minutes left to get some film.
We had around 40 minutes to film. Our group managed to run over time due to getting no film as pictures were taken instead. We decided to start again during our own time, rushing and panicking, we finally ended up with a couple of minutes worth of film. The film itself is only meant to be around 3 minutes long. I have learnt, we should pay attention on the camera and look at it first so we get an understanding of how to use the camera. After each scene taken, we should look on the camera to see if it has saved and if it is good enough quality, by looking if the framing is good and the lighting. I will remember to always check the video button when filming next.
A lot of learning is included here as well as detailed reasons for decisions such as choosing actors. Also a good post about mean girls. Could you have included some images to break up the writing? This gets higher marks.
